We’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. Our approach to marriage counseling comes from a place of compassion: believing that no matter how painful the past has been, all relationships can be healed and repaired.

What you will learn with us:
In marriage intensives, you'll learn how the relationship got off track and begin the journey toward healing and forgiveness.

Our approach to marriage intensive’s is based on Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), which is the #1 research-validated relationship therapy and the ONLY couple therapy recommended by the American Psychological Association to help improve relationships. In Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) with us, we will do a thorough assessment of your relationship, discover and work through emotional blocks to healing, and begin the process of re-building a sense of emotional safety and security in your marriage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The first few sessions will be spent getting to know one another, and making sure you and your therapist are both clear about what you are hoping to get out of the experience. You’ll talk lot about feelings to help you get clarity and work through any painful feelings keeping you stuck. Your therapist will also help you clarify what you want out of relationships and how to communicate clearly about your needs. Through this process you’ll be learning tools to use in your day-to-day life. If needed, your therapist will offer referrals to other disciplines, such as psychiatry, primary care, etc. Most of all, your therapist will hold space for you to have all of your experiences versus just trying to work through them on your own.

Follow up work is key to making the investment last and to ensure you don’t regress. You may be able to do follow up work with me. This could look like weekly sessions or a series of intensives. If scheduling doesn’t work for you to do your follow-up care with me, I can help match you with a therapist.

Our clinic has a 48-hour cancellation policy in order to allow us to pay our therapists for their time. If you miss your appointment or cancel in under 48-hours, you will be charged the full amount of the session.

The exception is Dr. Elizabeth Polinsky who only works with clients who are willing to be videotaped for training purposes. She works with clients on a weekly basis and has a reschedule only policy. We are happy to provide more information about this should you wish to work with her.

Marriage Intensives may be right for you:

  • If you are in a crisis – but both partners want to try to make it work.
  • If you are stuck in a negative interactive pattern and just can’t seem to stop fighting.
  • If you feel distant, almost like roommates and don’t know how to be close again.
  • If you just can’t make weekly counseling work with demanding schedules and/or the childcare shuffle.
  • If you’re a current client wanting to deep dive into healing from a past betrayal.

Marriage Intensives are not appropriate when:

  • One or both partners have an active addiction.
  • If there is an ongoing affair that hasn’t ended yet.
  • If you and your partner do not have the same goal for therapy, this isn’t a good format for you. In other words, if one partner wants to work on the marriage and the other doesn’t – an intensive isn’t the place to decide if you want to work on the marriage. When a couple has the same goal, an intensive can be very rewarding.
  • If being in the same room for a long time is too triggering (potential trauma reaction) or you haven’t been able to be in the same space without being civil in a period of time – this format will not be productive.
  • If there is active intimate partner violence, this is not an option.
We offer 1-Day Premarital Intensives; 2-Day Deployment Preparation and 2-Day Post-Deployment Reconnection Intensives, as well 2 Day Family Intensives for adult children and their parents. If you are interested in a special type of intensive experience, please schedule a consultation so we can address your unique needs.

Marriage Intensives are a two-day, weekend long experience online via zoom:

  • $1,000 per weekend with Masters Level Student Interns
  • $1,500 per weekend with Masters Level Therapists under Supervision (Residents in Counseling, Residents in Marriage and Family Therapy, and Supervisee’s in Social Work), and Doctoral Level Student Interns
  • $2,500 per weekend with Masters Level Independently Licensed Therapists (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW) and Doctoral Level Therapists under Supervision
  • $3,000 per weekend with Masters Level Specialty Certified Therapists (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW)
  • $3,000 per hour for Doctoral Level Independently Licensed Therapists (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW)
  • $3,500 per hour for Doctoral Level Specialty Certified Therapists (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW)
  • $4,000 per hour for Dr. Elizabeth Polinsky, LCSW, LMFT, Clinic Founder and Director
  • A benefit of marriage intensives is that they are often cost-effective because: 1) They skip the catching up time that is often the start of weekly counseling sessions, and2) They often allow you to go deeper, faster, and therefore speeding up the process of therapy.
